Aishwarya thrilled with two monster South projects

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is elated over bagging the main leads in two mega south Indian projects - Mani Ratnam's Ravan and Shankar's Endhiran.
"Shankar had approached me previously to work with him, but it never materialised. Finally, everything landed in place and here we are working together after 10 years," said Aishwarya on the sets of Ravan.
Tamil superstar Rajinikant, who is playing the male lead in Endhiran, was also very keen to work with Aishwarya and had tried to sign her for his earlier ventures - Padaiyappa and Chandramukhi, but the actress could not spare the dates.
Speaking about Ratnam's Ravan, in which she once again teams up with her husband Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya said: "I don't want to reveal much about it. Working with Mani is always a delight. He is a man of perfection. I am lucky to act in his movies again and again."
Aishwarya was earlier seen in Ratnam's Iruvar and Guru, in which Abhishek was in the main lead.
While shooting for Ravan in the jungles of Kerala, the entire cast and crew had a scary experience when an elephant ran amok and killed 51-year-old mahout, Andavan.
The actors including Abhishek, Aishwarya, Vikram, Prabhu and Munna had to take shelter in a guest house.
According to sources, the film personalities spent the night in the forest guest house and survived on bread and eggs. After 12 hours of tension and waiting, the crew returned to their hotel.
Now the cast and crew of Ravan have moved to Ooty where the remaining portions of the film will be shot.

Who’s Making Aishwarya Rai Dance

Mani Ratnam has been extremely secretive about his film Raavana.However we’ve still managed to get hold of some interesting info. Apparently it is renowned actress Shobhana who is teaching Aishwarya dance for this one. Shobhana herself has a part in the movie. “Shobhana has already done a dance play called Maya Ravana and Mani thought her inputs would help. She was not officially asked to choreograph Ash’s dances, it’s just that she thought her suggestions would help Ash and thus decided to offer assistance.” Ash, we hear, is making most use of this ‘help’. Talk about chance pe dance, eh?

Aishwarya turns villain

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has stolen all the limelight as she walked the red carpet of Pink Panther 2 in pink gown in Spain. It is reported that though brief, her role in the movie is very crucial and interesting. She is the real villain of the flick whom the entire investigation department looks for. She becomes one among them and moves around with the team in hunt of the thief who has stolen the Pink Panther diamond. Aishwarya plays the role of Sonia Solandres, a criminology expert, in the film. Being one with them throughout, she keeps on throwing dust in their eyes. But in the end, Inspector Clouseau discover that Sonia, played by Ash, is the real culprit and she is not a criminology expert. “The climax has a fight scene where Ash even kicks some butt and tries to flee. But eventually, she gets caught and is put behind bars,” says the source. Ash recently moved along with her co-star Steve Martin around the globe to promote the film.

Ash, Abhi have no plans for child

Though they were married for more than two years now, Bollywood's sizzling couple Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan have no plans to extend his family at the moment as they are busy with their commitments. They have signed many projects and both focused on their individual career. When Bachchan junior was asked when we can hear the good news from them, he slyly replied, “We feel that a child is God’s gift and frankly have not planned about having a child as of now because both of us are quiet busy with work. As and when we do have a child, what is of primary importance is that we should have a healthy child and it is immaterial whether we have a son or a daughter”.In the past few films, Abhishek paired with his wife and in some of his future projects too he has Ash as his on-screen partner. He is not in the favor of having Ash in all his films but if the film and the director demands so, he will be more than happy to cast opposite her but there is no any hard and fast rule to have Ash only. “ It is petty to think that I maneuver to have Ash in every film of mine. I do not decide who should be cast in a film as my leading lady. I do not insist that Ash should be my leading lady. I did two films last year after marriage and Ash was not there in them at all. Ash was not there in Delhi 6 with me. Mani wanted her in his film which has a working title like Ravana and Abhinav Deo was keen that she should be a part of his film”, said Abhishek.Abhi's Drona and Delhi 6 both did not fare well at the box office in spite of putting lots of hard work. Bollywood Beauti Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked down the red-carpet yesterday for the Premiere of her latest international flick, Pink Panther 2 with hubby Abhishek and pa-in-law Amitabh Bachchan.Ask her about her blink and miss role in PP2 and she says, “It’s a bit silly and exhausting to even talk about the length of my role based on what is seen in the trailers. Did anyone question my role in Khakee, when there was only one shot of me in the promo? Isn’t that a very myopic view of contemporary acting? And I thought I had transcended this footage fetish in my first film Iruvar (1997).”“The choices I have made in my career aren’t just about footage but an opportunity to work with actors, directors and technicians who enrich my life. I didn’t work in Pink Panther 2 only because it was an international project. Aishwarya Rai Postpones French Government Honour

It is raining awards on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, but the green-eyed Bollywood beauty seems to be holding an umbrella!The French Government has conferred prestigious ‘Officer Dan Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres’ honour on her. But Ash has declared that she will not be able to receive the award just yet. The second highest civilian award of France is a big thing, but the move is no snub.
Ash had said to France, “Thank-you, but not now!” She explained, “I wanted my entire family - and that includes my parents, brother, sister-in-law, my husband and his parents, sister and brother-in-law - to be there. My father has been unwell and I wanted him to be there at this important moment.”
Having given her reason, she added, “It will be a glorious moment. But not without my father!”Incidentally, this honour has been conferred earlier on Hollywood actors Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, and Shah Rukh Khan from India. There’s only one higher French civilan honour, the Legion d’honour, which her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, filmmaker Satyajit Ray and sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar have received.

Aish to enter politics?

Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh may be close to the Bachchans as well as to Sanjay Dutt who calls him his elder brother. But will Aishwarya Rai with her busy schedule say "Yes" to his offer to be his party's candidate for the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Do you think that Aishwarya is almost near to taking the political path adopted by Sanjay Dutt? There are too many questions of this sort milling in our minds. But what does the lady in question have to say to all this happening around her?
Well, Aish has neither given her consent nor has any formal announcement been made by the Samajwadi Party till now. As of now the only information is that Aishwarya's name has been recommended by the Samajwadi Party Bihar Parliamentary Board to their chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The B-town leading lady's name was suggested because of the party workers' demand to give Aishwarya a candidate's ticket to compete from the place called Madhepura. The party leaders say that the people and the party supporters want the former Miss World to fight the elections against Janata Dal United's national president Sharad Yadav who is expected to contest form Madhepura.
Now the entire party seems to be hanging on what Aish has got to say regarding this deal.

Enthiran Movie On Location Photo Gallery

Shankar and Rajinikanth are going all out to cut costs for Endhiran (The Robot), by shooting in parts of Tamil Nadu, the streets of Chennai and studio settings. After shooting at a private engineering college in Vellore, the unit moved further south to Kelavakkam near Tirupur. Here, scenes were shot at a private educational institute, with Aishwarya Rai as a college student and Rajinikanth as a scientist. The same institute was used by Shankar for shooting the climax lead for his Sivaji. Meanwhile, the team will now shift to a Chennai studio for a dream song of the student who gets smitten by the scientist! Art director Sabu Cyril is making a huge set to shoot the song, which is a duet. To shoot two of his earlier songs , director Shankar had gone to Peru, Los Angeles, parts of the US and the sunny beaches of Goa. Knowing Shankar’s penchant for grandeur, one can expect this song to be shot on a lavish scale. The movie has music by AR Rahman, and for the first time, rapper Yogi B (who shot to fame through the Polladhavan remix and the Kuruvi song) will be singing for the Superstar.

Danny, the villain in Endhiran

After speculations about the villain for Rajini's next, with names ranging from J.D. Chakravarthy to Suman, it is Danny Denzongpa, the famous Bollywood actor who will play the bad man opposite our superstar!
He has acted in numerous Hindi films and has also starred in some international projects, the most famous being Seven Years in Tibet where he acted alongside Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. In 2003, Denzongpa was awarded the Padmashree, India's fourth highest civilian honour. Denzongpa is noted for his roles as a villain.
The actor will now make his debut in Tamil as a villain in the Rajini-Aishwarya Bachchan starrer, Endhiran which is directed by Shankar.

Pairing with hubby dear excites Aishwarya

Aishwarya Rai is excited about teaming up with hubby Abhishek Bachchan for Mani Ratnam's next film but reluctant to reveal much about the movie.

"It's a really exciting thought for me and Abhishek to be coming together again with Mani Ratnam. All I can say about the film is that it goes into a completely different theme from 'Guru'," Aishwarya, who turns 35 Saturday, told IANS.

"You can't expect Mani sir to go into the same space twice. Working with him is an exciting thought for any actor. The way he connects to his actors is very clear in the films that he makes. He creates magic on screen," she added.

Aishwarya considers "Guru", in which she paired with Abhishek, a very precious experience.

"It has been a very precious experience on every level, and not just on a personal level. I'd say it was professionally very fulfilling."

The last couple of months have been very hectic for the actress.

"I had joined Abhishek in Jaipur where he was shooting for 'Dilli 6'. Then I was with him in Miami for 'Dostana'. I also packed in Cannes and Paris. Life is beautiful. It really is. You know, life is as special as you make it for yourself. Of course, you can't live your life in a bubble. There're people who want to rain on your parade. It's up to you how you protect your space," said Aishwarya who just finished the first lap of the world tour 'Unfogettable'.

She is also doing Shankar's "Robot" and has teamed up with Tamil superstar Rajnikant in the movie. It got delayed because the film's writer passed away in February this year, thereby pushing the project back by some months.

"After Sujatha sir's sad demise, the project got delayed slightly. People chose this tragedy as an occasion to spread all kinds of rumours when the fact is death slowed down 'Robot'. But we're back on track, though now we need to work on a tighter schedule."

Explaining why the film needs extra planning, she said: "'Robot' has loads of special effects. And the film will be using a lot of crew from overseas. All this needed re-scheduling."

"Robot" wouldn't be the first FX driven film in Aishwarya's career.

"There was 'Dhoom 2'. And right at the start of my career I did 'Jeans'. And that too had very complicated special effects. And I had to do it in Tamil. So I learned a lot during 'Jeans', as I hope to do during 'Robot'."

Clearing another misconception about "Robot", she said: "People seem to think it's in Tamil and Hindi. But it's only in Tamil."

Tell her she's now equipped to direct a film, and Aishwarya laughs. "Everyone says that. I don't know, maybe one day."
