Mugdha Godse happy with Jail

From being a pretty young woman who was one of the three leads in Fashion, Mugdha Godse has now bagged a solo heroine lead in the film Jail. Also, from a gay husband (Sameer Soni) as a partner, she now has a straight guy (Neil Nitin Mukesh) playing her on screen boyfriend.
''I guess I can finally say that I have graduated,'' quips Mugdha with that characteristic laugh of hers, ''From being together with just a friend to a boyfriend is a good enough step for a young woman like me, isn't it? But yes, jokes apart, I am extremely happy that with Jail, I get to play a bona fide leading lady.''
Madhur Bhandarkar has repeated her from a woman oriented Fashion to Jail - a film that tells the tale of prison life. ''I am happy that he trusts me to play two diametrically different roles. It would also be nice to work with Neil. Youngsters have to keep making an impression in Bollywood and both of us are mighty kicked since we are just starting off.''
Things seem to be going in a positive direction for Mugdha though. 2009 has been great with the announcement of Jail and there are more on the anvil too. Question her about the other projects in the pipeline and she chooses her words carefully, ''Really, I don't want to make any noise before I sign on the dotted line. I had a hint for Jail as well but preferred to talk about it only after everything was sealed and locked.''
She has been high on the popularity charts though as the find of 2008. ''I have been meeting people daily before and after the release of Fashion but what's the point of spraying out pointers to friends and media till something concrete haven't happened. Sorry, but that's not my style of headline grabbing tactics.''

Controversy over Billu Barber!

The Salon and Beauty Parlors’ Association in Maharashtra have decided to launch a protest against the title of Shah Rukh Khan’s forthcoming film Billu Barber. The film is slated to be released on February 13th. According to Uday Takke, the president of the association, ‘barber’ is a derogatory term and therefore the title should be changed to Billu
Hairdresser. He added that there are several women hairdressers across the country and should Billu Barber turn out to be a big hit then they might also be addressed as barbers in future. Billu Barber’s producers Red Chillies Entertainment have arranged for a special screening for the members of the association on February 12th. But the association members wanted the show to be preponed to February 9th as it would help them seek legal action should there be any derogatory scenes in the film. It is surprising to note that this protest has been raked up after the King Khan had sent vinyl posters, cassettes and CDs to be displayed in about 500 shops at the barber shops in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, the association discussed the issue with Shah Rukh Khan and it was decided to remove the term from the hoardings and posters. SRK had promised Uday Takke that he would send teams of people to paste a white paper over the name Barber, as it was difficult to reprint them considering the costs involved. ‘Love 4 Ever’ to hit screen on April 9

Jayant C Paranji, who had directed films like ‘Preminchukundam Raa, Premante Ideraa, Bavagaru Bagunnara and Shankar Dada MBBS’ launched his own banner ‘Laughing Entertainment’ and is making a film ‘Love 4 Ever’ in his own direction. It is a beautiful love story and over 34 days of the film was shot in New Zealand recently. Four songs were choreographed under the dance direction of Brinda for the movie. Over 75 per cent of the film was completed so far. Director says, ‘We are introducing Ranadeep as hero and Mrudula as heroine. Mrudula already faced the camera as a child artiste and worked for many successful movies. The heroine’s character is quite sensitive in nature and hence we selected Mrudula for the role.’ Co-producer Sumanth Paranji says, ‘We are making efforts to complete the balance shooting and other post-production formalities very soon and are planning to release the film on April 9. Ramsampath is scoring music for the movie and we have plans to release the film simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages.’
