Pairing with hubby dear excites Aishwarya

Aishwarya Rai is excited about teaming up with hubby Abhishek Bachchan for Mani Ratnam's next film but reluctant to reveal much about the movie.

"It's a really exciting thought for me and Abhishek to be coming together again with Mani Ratnam. All I can say about the film is that it goes into a completely different theme from 'Guru'," Aishwarya, who turns 35 Saturday, told IANS.

"You can't expect Mani sir to go into the same space twice. Working with him is an exciting thought for any actor. The way he connects to his actors is very clear in the films that he makes. He creates magic on screen," she added.

Aishwarya considers "Guru", in which she paired with Abhishek, a very precious experience.

"It has been a very precious experience on every level, and not just on a personal level. I'd say it was professionally very fulfilling."

The last couple of months have been very hectic for the actress.

"I had joined Abhishek in Jaipur where he was shooting for 'Dilli 6'. Then I was with him in Miami for 'Dostana'. I also packed in Cannes and Paris. Life is beautiful. It really is. You know, life is as special as you make it for yourself. Of course, you can't live your life in a bubble. There're people who want to rain on your parade. It's up to you how you protect your space," said Aishwarya who just finished the first lap of the world tour 'Unfogettable'.

She is also doing Shankar's "Robot" and has teamed up with Tamil superstar Rajnikant in the movie. It got delayed because the film's writer passed away in February this year, thereby pushing the project back by some months.

"After Sujatha sir's sad demise, the project got delayed slightly. People chose this tragedy as an occasion to spread all kinds of rumours when the fact is death slowed down 'Robot'. But we're back on track, though now we need to work on a tighter schedule."

Explaining why the film needs extra planning, she said: "'Robot' has loads of special effects. And the film will be using a lot of crew from overseas. All this needed re-scheduling."

"Robot" wouldn't be the first FX driven film in Aishwarya's career.

"There was 'Dhoom 2'. And right at the start of my career I did 'Jeans'. And that too had very complicated special effects. And I had to do it in Tamil. So I learned a lot during 'Jeans', as I hope to do during 'Robot'."

Clearing another misconception about "Robot", she said: "People seem to think it's in Tamil and Hindi. But it's only in Tamil."

Tell her she's now equipped to direct a film, and Aishwarya laughs. "Everyone says that. I don't know, maybe one day."

Naseer as a chef

Playing the role of a chef has made the veteran actor Naseerudin Shah much more enlightened about the intricacies of cooking dishes.

It was a completely new experience for the actor as he is a person who till this time has not cared for making any kind of food except omelette.

Naseer plays the character of a very jolly minded cab driver who becomes a chef in the movie titled as '7 To The Palace'.

The film is directed by David Kaplan and tells the story centered on an Indian restaurant named as The Palace in Queens at New York.

Although for most of the time during the shooting, Naseerudin Shah just had to fake cooking, the two things the director wanted his central character to learn was to chop onions and garlics.

So Naseer before going to New York for the shooting sought the help of his friend Pushan Kripalani , a chef who runs a restaurant in Versova to learn how to do the tasks assigned by the director like a true professional

Madhur Jaffrey who is a very famous culinary expert and one who is considered as the queen of cookery appears with Naseer in a scene in '7 To Palace'.

Asif Mandvi who is the scrip writer also plays the role of a trainee cook in the movie.

The director David Kaplan is a big lover of all kinds of foods and likes everything related with it.

His last movie titled as 'Year Of The Fish' also had its main theme in cooking as it narrated the tale of a Chinese restaurant.

ROCK ON rocks for 50 days

It has been 50 days of rocking hard for ROCK ON as the film has entered its 8th week in the weekend gone by. A film which surprised majority of people with its very strong opening, ROCK ON has continued to enjoy many more fantastic weeks at the box office. India's own rock–band film, ROCK ON, was truly experimental in nature with all actors being relatively new except for Arjun Rampal. Still, the film went on to win the hearts of audiences, in urban as well as smaller centers, hence turning out to be a bona fide HIT. The film has earned more than 26 crores at the box office in the weeks gone by and though the theatrical run has almost come to an end, its arrival on the home entertainment (expected quite soon) would certainly ensure that ROCK ON continues to rock for many more weeks and months to come.

"It's fun to be part of A RECTANGULAR LOVE STORY" - Gul Panag

Though there is still uncertainty around Gul Panag's real life love story, on reel life she is having a whale of time with as many as three men vying for her attention. While in real life this may be a little hazardous, on screen Gul is enjoying every bit of shooting for A RECTANGULAR LOVE STORY.
Smiles Gul, "A RECTANGULAR LOVE STORY is a story about three boys and a girl. The film's shooting started a few months back and we have been making good progress.
A PNC production, the film which stars Ranvir Shorey and Purab Kohli in the lead, is directed by Rajat Kapur. Incidentally this is for the first time ever that Rajat Kapoor and Gul Panag are working together.
"It's fun to be part of A RECTANGULAR LOVE STORY", exclaims Gul, "Rajat is such a different kind of director to work with. The film is a nice breezy romantic comedy and a unique experience for me."
A RECTANGULAR LOVE STORY is the first ever comedy for Gul who has otherwise been slotted as a serious actor, courtesy films like DHOOP and DOR. Though she did have a glamorous persona in JURM and also a part of some light hearted scenes in MANORAMA - SIX FEET UNDER, these performance didn't quite get noticed due to both films failing at the box office. However, MANORAMA - SIX FEET UNDER has done reasonably well on the DVD circuits. And now HELLO is a success.
"That's life and as I have always maintained that since I don't come with any expectations, I have no regrets either", says Gul, "I am moving on and looking forward to some good releases in the pipeline in coming months."
Gul's upcoming films are ANUBHAV, STRAIGHT and HELLO DARLING

When Akshay shot with Superman

Akshay Kumar surely knows the funda of successful movies after belting hits one after the other in a row. The King of Bollywood will be seen sharing some screen space with heartthrob superman Brandon Routh.
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has not only roped in Hollywood biggies like Slyvester Stallone and Denise Richards but has also added more oomph to his flick Kambakth Ishq by signing Brandon Routh.
A source reveals,”Akshay and Brandon had to perform a stunt scene together. It was the most crucial scene of the film. It was dangerous too. Brandon was very impressed with Akshay after watching him perform dangerous stunts for the film. He was surprised that Bollywood actors perform the stunt scenes themselves.”
Apparently over Akki bonded well with the superhero, “It was fun to see them bond. Brandon was very happy working with the team of ‘Kambakkth’. As it is, it was such a big coup to get Brandon,” adds the source.
Well apna Akki with Superman, this is surely a deadly combination.

GOLMAAL RETURNS

Director Rohit Shetty waits with bated breath for the response to GOLMAAL RETURNS. "It's bigger, it's better, it's much more entertaining than GOLMAAL," he says of his new film.
Not many are aware, the sequel to GOLMAAL happened by chance. "I was working on an altogether different story; it was meant to take off from where the first part ended. But I realized that it was getting boring. I wasn't enjoying writing it. Around that time Yunus Sajawal bounced off an entirely new story of four guys and four girls. When I read the script, I realized that it could easily pass off as the sequel to GOLMAAL. And when I narrated the plotline to Rajbhai Mehta [of Ashtavinayak] and also Ajay [Devgan], they jumped at it. That gave me the impetus to go ahead with the sequel," Rohit recalls.
Rohit is confident that he'll continue with the GOLMAAL series. But before making the next instalment of this laughathon, Rohit is working on an altogether different project -- this time with Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi. "I haven't signed either Baba [Sanju] or Arshad. Nor have I made them listen to the script. It was a casual conversation with Sanju and the next thing you know, the media has already made the announcement. There's nothing official about this project yet," he clarifies.

Riya Sen adds glamour to Ranna Gill's colourful 'Nirvana'

"I had never modeled for Ranna but she told me that the dress is very trendy, fresh and sexy and 'very you'. So I thought I must do it. I am fussy about my clothes and don't usually wear a mini skirt, but this was a good opportunity," Riya told reporters after the show.
Gill's collection was replete with bright, vivid colours and teamed together in unique contrasts.

Gill's clothes have a meticulous detailing with coloured stones and petit point embroideries. Embellishments are minimal and bead work dominates the line. Besides, the designer has replaced straps with ropes that make this line very chic.
"A lot of dori works, big gems dominate this line that gives it a very contemporary feel. I have also paid attention to back details, it is very stylish," Gill explained.
As for the material, Gill has mostly used jersey fabric, linen and emphasized crystals.
Gill's outfits start at Rs.4,500 and go higher as the detailing and work increases.

Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar in "Bhai Bhai"

Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar bonded like brothers while shooting for action adventure Blue .
In an industry where ego tussles are rife, Sanjay and Akshay stand apart as exceptions. Though the rumours would have you believe otherwise, the truth is Sanju and Akki have been getting along like a house on fire while shooting underwater action sequences for ‘Blue’ in Bangkok and Phuket.
The two stars are teaming up after a long gap of 14 years. They last worked together in the 1994 movie ‘Amaanat’.

Dutt has been reciprocating Akki’s warmth. The two stars are often spotted indulging in discussions on their favourite subjects – fitness, films and food.
So, all the rumours of friction between Dutt and Kumar can bite the dust for now.

Interestingly, after Singh Is Kinng , Akshay gets to play a Sikh again in Mehta’s film.
"It's an honour for me to play one of the bravest Sikhs, Gurdit Singh, in this tragic forgotten moment in history. I salute those brave souls who sacrificed their lives for justice and equality", he said.

Prabhudeva back to acting

When acting did not get him success, Prabhudeva took to directing. He was lucky that his films were successful. He is one of the leading directors in Telugu cinema. His first directorial venture 'Pokkiri' was a thumping success. Now he is directing 'Villu' with Vijay.
But he still longs to be a successful hero. Now he has got another chance. He seems to like the story narrated by Ravi Chakravarthy who produced 'Allaudin' with him. He is likely to take up acting in the film after completion of 'Villu'.

He is also getting many chances to act in Telugu films. He has got a chance to act in a Tamil film by Thankar Bachan. So, he has decided to rest from directing films forsome time. Even while directing films, he may act in films.
It is a good decision and we wish him all the best.
