Asin- The brand ambassador for Tata Sky

Asin was on a house boat in Punnamada Lake in Alapuzha, one of the top holiday destinations in Kerala, where the annual Nehru Trophy boat race happens.
The cherubic actress was not holidaying there but instead shooting an ad for Tanishq for which she is the brand ambassador (see pic).
For Asin, it was a sort of home coming as she was continuously shooting in various parts of the globe for the last one year. The lush green areas surrounded by paddy fields and stretches of coconut palm groves was indeed a welcome change for the actress who got a chance to be away from the hustle bustle of city life.

Asin stayed in Alapuzha for two days before she is flying back to Mumbai via Chennai to attend another press meet arranged by Cavin Kare. And the big news is that she has signed her eighth endorsement deal with Tata Sky DTH for which she will be shooting an ad commercial with Aamir Khan.
The buzz is that Asin has been signed up by Tata Sky for a record endorsement deal as they want to cash in on the hype and hoopla around the Ghajini pair coinciding with the release of the film on December 25.

Now, Emraan Hashmi the ‘serial-artist’!

Emraan Hashmi, who stormed into B-town lip-first, has changed for two upcoming movies and has grabbed the painter’s brush. In his yet to be released thriller ‘Raaz - The Mystery Returns’, he plays a clairvoyant artist. In his next venture, Kunal Deshmukh’s untitled thriller (again!), he plays a brush-wielding visionary all over again. Set in flood-hit Mumbai of 2005, the film has a more serious take on humanity than his previous sensual flicks. With a kissing-streak in his career, this new brush-toting penchant is hinting at an image makeover from the hip to the solemn - in fact, from the physically inclined to the intellectually inclined. Earlier Emraan, was reported to have declared he had had enough of paints and brushes after the shooting of ‘Raaz…’ The new role came as a surprise but Emraan welcomed the good script with alacrity. The painting role has stuck to him with such vengeance now that he has started dabbling in colours in his spare time, too.“Emraan has now become more serious about art and whenever he has time off from shoots, he practises his brush strokes,” a close friend of the actor remarked.

Harris Jayaraj splits with Gautham!

In a shocking development, noted music composer Harris Jayaraj has announced his split with director Gautham Vasudev Menon!
Harris, through his PRO Nikhil Murugan has issued a statement saying that he is parting ways with Gautham.
Gautham and Harris debuted together in the 2001 romantic musical Minnale, which had outstanding music score. The pair established themselves as one of the most popular director-music director combination with foot tapping music in films like- Khakka Khakka, Vettayadu Vilayadu, Pachaikili Muthucharam and their latest Vaaranam Aayiram.
Now, Harris in his statement issued to the press says-" I have a very good respect for Mr. Gowtham Menon and in return he has reciprocated the same. But now, things have gone sour that it's better for us to part ways as good friends leaving behind some beautiful memories with a heavy heart. I have to take this decision on behalf of us. I know this might disappoint my fans, music lovers and well wishers in the industry. It's best for us to leave it at this, since I always believed that to create soul stirring music, the bond between a Music composer and the director is vital. Once it's lost, it is difficult to get back".
It could not have come at a worst time, on the day before the release of Vaaranam Aayiram! Harris told sify.com: " What will one do, if a marriage goes bad? You have to split! Anyway I wish him all the best." Harris said that he will not be attending today's (Nov 13) red carpet premiere of the film, as he has a recording!

After a long hunt of four years Juhi Parmar finally found her Mr. Right and the man of her dreams in Sachin Shroff of ‘Sindoor’ and ‘Naaginn’ fame. Earlier it was reported that the much in love couple will tie the knot by early next year (2009). Now the date has been announced. It’s Feb.15, 2009 a day after Valentine’s Day. A very excited Juhi says, "I have always been dreaming of it, and now it is here, I am getting married to my beloved on Feb 15". The wedding will take place in her home town of Jaipur. Their engagement will be held on Valentine’s Day, just a day before marriage. The couple had first met around five years back for a pilot shoot of a show, but none of them ended up doing it. But they struck up a healthy friendship during the shoot. It was only a month back that they fell in love and came out in the open. Juhi is busy preparing these days. She says, "I am taking time out and have been taking note of every small thing which is related to my marriage. My parents have been sending me details of everything through mails." But there were plenty of reasons for not zeroing in on February 14. She jokes, "Sachin wanted the marriage to be on 14th Feb, so that he escapes with just one gift rather than giving two." While most TV actors prefer quiet or secret weddings, Juhi plans to have a grand and lavish marriage. She says, "I have always dreamt of it and now it is happening. I am really very excited." This sure is going to be one fairy tale wedding.

Big release planned for ‘Ghajini’ starring Aamir Khan

Ghajini distributors, Studio 18, plan to play safe and rely on pre release hype to recover their investments in A.R. Murugadoss’ Ghajini. The film will be released on Christmas Day countrywide with 1200 prints, a record that surpasses the 1050 print release of Singh Is Kingg.
“‘Ghajini’ will be the biggest and widest release ever, breaking the record set by ‘Singh Is Kinng’, which was also distributed by us,” says Aman Gill, Director, Domestic Theatrical Distribution, Studio 18.
“With ‘Singh Is Kinng’, we set a precedent in the way the films are marketed and with ‘Ghajini’ we tend to go beyond that,” adds Priti Shahani, Sr. V.P., Marketing & Distribution, Studio 18,
It is likely, the Studio 18 move is motivated as much by their confidence in the film as the jitters from the prevailing economic downturn. What is for sure is they are not banking on word of mouth publicity.
Attempts by Sawf News to get additional information about the release were spurned by the film’s publicists - Spice PR. On an earlier occasion Spice PR’s amusingly ill tempered publicist Shilpa Handa told us, “Sawf News is not important to us. It has no standing!”

The song was recorded at Dhina's music studio in Chennai on Saturday. Kushboo, who made her debut as child artiste, shot to fame with Chinnathambi. She went on to become a popular heroine acting opposite almost all prominent artistes including Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Karthick and Vijayakanth.

Gautham Menon thrown out of Ajith's film

Director Gautham has been removed from Sivaji Productions' next film with Ajith Kumar.
According to the latest news, Dharani, the director of Vijay's Gilli and Kuruvi will direct this venture and the shooting would start sometime in December. Dharani has been asked to complete the script in an appealing way; a typical masala film for Ajith fans.
Sources reveal that the rift between Gautham and Ajith has been the main reason for the termination of the director from the project. Gautham wanted to try out something different with Ajith, a realistic thriller based on Abu Salem-Monica Bedi affair. But Ajith did not like the narrative style. He wanted something aggressive, an action oriented plot as against Gautham's present script. It is said that Ajith is impressed with the one liner narrated by Dharani and has requested him to pep it with interesting twists.

When Venkat Prabhu spoke, he said that Thaman was the first choice for Premji's character in Chennai-28 and he used to play drums in their band. He adds, "Our performance used to bring the roof down. After one of our performance, a newspaper has reported the picture of only Thaman and all that I can say was 'enna kodumai sir idu'. Shama meets with an accident!

Actress Shama Sikander met with an accident this week when her car was hit by a truck. Though she escaped injuries, her vehicle was badly damaged. "I was returning from the premiere of the new Bond movie ‘Quantum of Solace‘ late in the night when this huge Tata truck in front of my Scorpio suddenly took a sharp turn and banged my car," she says.
Though Shama admits she was a bit shaken up as it happened, she got out of her car and managed to stop the truck driver from fleeing. "I almost fought with him on the road, and for the first time in my life; ekdum filmi style. I didn’t let him budge from the spot," she adds.
Later, the cops turned up and Shama took the driver to a Police Station in Goregaon, Mumbai, and filed a TAD (Traffic Accident Data) complaint (number 104-08). This was also for the first time in her life that Shama actually entered a Police Station. "I had only seen them in movies, but I realised a real Police Station looks quite different," she quips.
"On hindsight, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I am myself surprised at my guts. I still cant believe that I actually got out on the road to face the truck driver. I was even about to hit that guy for his negligence when the cops landed on the spot. Since I’d just seen the James Bond movie, it seems I was in a full-on Bond mood while everyone was staring at the fight on the road," she laughs looking a bit embarrassed and a little proud of her retaliation.
Asked if she enjoyed the Bond movie as much as her road fight, Shama giggles, "I love Daniel Craig. I think he is the best Bond ever, different and stylish. He’s stronger than the others, quite a dude."
After winning accolades for her participation in the popular dance reality-show ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena‘ on Colors last month, the actress is doing a film with Rohit Roy Productions. She has also signed two other feature films to be made by the renowned short film writer-director Kamlesh Kunti.

Madhur Bhandarkar in Vaishnodevi after success of `Fashion`

High on the success of his latest film "Fashion", film director Madhur Bhandarkar today visited the shrine of Vaishnodevi in Jammu and Kashmir.

"I am here to thank the Goddess after the success of `Fashion`. It is the biggest hit of my career. It is a great moment for me," Bhandarkar said.

The director said he was slightly apprehensive as the subject of the film was totally different and the film did not have any lead actor in it.

"It was a great risk for me to make a film on the background of fashion but I am happy that the public has accepted my film," Bhandarkar said.

The film`s theme is based on the story of a small town girl`s experience in the glittery world of fashion through the story of Meghna Mathur, a role played by Priyanka Chopra.

The movie ran into trouble after Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) objected that Kangana Ranaut`s character in the film had a striking resemblance to Delhi`s former model Geetanjai Nagpal. The movie was later passed with an `A` certificate.

Bhandarkar`s latest offing was a follow up of his trademark movies based on real issues and people. His earlier films like "Page 3", "Corporate", "Traffic Signal", "Satta" etc were also based on similar issues.

The movie stars Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Mugdha Godse.

Mallika Sherawat over stressed with Hisss

Mallika Sherawat recently completed a schedule of Jennifer Lynch’s Hisss in the jungles and backwaters of Kerala. It was almost as if she was holding on for the schedule to end. On her return to Mumbai, the actress collapsed. Says Vikram Singh, Mallika’s brother and co-producer (along with Govind Menon and Ratan Jain) of Hisss, “Mallika has been suffering from extreme exhaustion and very high fever ever since she returned from Thekkady, where we were shooting. She’s resting at home but is still very weak. She had high fever on the sets but she chose to shoot through it. We had doctors and medical aid on the sets around the clock.” Though Mallika had doctors on the sets, she refused to take too much medication. Vikram adds, “Though there were doctors on standby Mallika doesn’t believe in medication. She’s a naturalist and believes getting cured the natural way or through yoga, so severe exhaustion hit her once the shoot got over.” The actress is suffering from exhaustion and high fever because of the rigorous schedule. “She was shooting every day from 5 am till late evening for the last 15 days. And it would rain heavily every day.
Also the jungle was infested with insects and leeches which crept inside her snake suit and would make it difficult for her to remove. The leeches, especially, were all over her body as she had to lie down on the ground,” confirms her brother.
But before she took ill, Vikram, Jennifer and the unit of Hisss had a Diwali celebration in the jungle. Vikram says, “We called a pandit who only chants Sanskrit hymns to do a puja. We had idols of Lakshmi and Ganesh. It was very nice and a different way of celebrating.”
